"Lies My Teacher Told Me" by J.W. Loewen

Hey there, its Spring Break for me- but I've got lots of homework get done...

Anyways, Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong by James W. Loewen, is an assigned reading for my Sociology course for the Spring semester. It is a superbly enlightening piece for any young American going [or have gone] through the High School history class experience. Loewen points at significant fallacies and holes in our textbooks and the like.

Amongst his criticisms is how we hero-fy historical figures, removing all their characteristic warts or "lie by omission". He also criticizes how the publishers have a taboo about controversy and the ambiguous complexity of our history.

Just felt like writing an informal book review.

Okay, now I have to resume doing my homework. Ciao. :bye:
